Welcome to Year 6. I hope you have all had a great summer break. The 6E team will consist of myself (Miss Ehrenmark), Mrs Smith and Mr Cripps.
If you would like to speak to us at any time to discuss any issues about your child, please do not hesitate to come and ask. I am available most days after school from 3.15 to 3.45.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday. This term we will be focusing on dance and tag rugby.
Please ensure your child has the correct school PE kit and that it is appropriate for the time of year. Children should keep their PE kits in school all week and take them home at the end of each week to be washed.
Homework will be sent home each week on a Friday and will consist of Maths, English and Spellings. Children will be taught a spelling rule and expected to find words that follow that rule for their homework.
Please make sure your child reads each night. Children are able to come and discuss their homework with us, in class, if they need extra help but this must be done before it is due in on Wednesday.
This first half term Year 6 will be studying Malorie Blackman’s book ‘Pig Heart Boy’ in Literacy. This book links to our Science topic of Humans and other Animals where we will be studying the human circulatory system including the heart and lungs.
Trip to Churchill War Rooms
To support our World War II topic, we will be visiting the Churchill War Rooms in Westminster, SW1A on Tuesday 20th November. Details of the trip will follow nearer to the time. We would be grateful for any parent volunteers who may be able to accompany us on this trip.
